The art of giving is always a big challenge to us.
Giving is relatively easy, but the call to really give with a grateful heart at times may become a challenge to our own selfishness and our priorities.
Giving does not expose our own needs, it is only a call to share that which we already have.
It calls for generosity.
The art of receiving is another matter.
It calls for intimacy, honesty, openness and evaluation.
This special Yuletide season we are again reminded that Jesus wants us to receive the Love which He has offered.
To receive another’s love means you must bring yourself with all it’s insecurities, pain and needs to be embraced by another.
In receiving we need to welcome the other with the gifts that are offered, to make room and space to accept that which you have realised you need.
In receiving, something is added to you which can bring a change within you.
“Certainly with the love that Jesus offers, we expect that our lives will never be the same again.”
